TOTHOMweb at the Smart City Expo World Congress

This week, a new edition of the "Smart City Expo World Congress" took place in Barcelona, which hosted hundreds of stands, activities and thousands of people from all over.

Barcelona City Council has participated once again in this event, this year with the motto "Humanizing technology for Barcelona".

The so-called Espai Fòrum was set up at the municipal stand, an agora where city projects were presented, both by the City Council and initiatives by third sector entities, associations, emerging companies and SMEs selected through a call. open. Our talk was one of the chosen ones and we were able to be part of this very varied and interesting program of activities.

Projects had to be linked to citizen participation, social collaboration or urban planning through the use of technology.

We titled our presentation "Web accessibility: Necessary for a smart city" and we emphasized the creation of the digital accessibility office of the City Council of which we are advisers from the tender we win a year ago.

It is a project of which we are very satisfied as it implies that Barcelona City Council is constantly working to improve the accessibility of its websites and our role is to accompany it in this task.

Any city, whether smart or not, must guarantee a minimum of digital accessibility to websites, applications, etc. and that was the message we spread in the talk.

We are very pleased that in a conference like this we have also been able to talk about digital accessibility and that we have contributed our grain of sand to the awareness of the need to apply it.
