Today is the anniversary of Twitter, the fastest growing social network 2.0 in recent years. For about a year now this network has been able to include descriptions so that tweets with images can be more accessible to people who can't see them.
How can accessible tweets be posted?
The use of images on any social network is an important part of the user experience. Twitter has taken this into account and allows members of its network to add descriptions (alternative texts) so that visually impaired people can interpret the content of images or other graphic elements.
In the Twitter blog, they explain how to post accessible images. Here are the steps to follow:
How to enable writing image descriptions on twitter.com
1. Click your profile icon and select Settings and privacy from the drop-down menu.
2. Click Accessibility in the list of configuration options.
3. Select the Write Image Descriptions check box.
4. Check the box to enable or disable the settings.
5. Click Save Changes.
How to add image descriptions to Tweets on twitter.com
1. Click the button to post a Tweet.
2. Attach your photo (s).
3. To write descriptive text, click on the image before posting the tweet.
4. Enter the description of the image and click the Apply button. To edit the description, reopen the thumbnail preview dialog before posting the Tweet. (It has a limit of 420 characters).
5. You can add a description to each image in a Tweet.
