TOTHOMweb signed the Contract for the Web, championed by Tim Berners-Lee and drafted by over 80 organisations. The contract sets 9 principles for governments, companies and citizens, including universal internet access and the requirement to ensure the accessibility of all websites.

Epilepsy affects 65 million people and can be triggered by flashing light. WCAG guideline 2.3 requires that web pages contain no elements that flash more than three times per second. The article also includes first aid guidelines for responding correctly to an epileptic seizure.

January 28th is European Data Protection Day. Unlike privacy, web accessibility still lacks sufficient awareness and compliance despite existing regulations. Both require effective legislation and enforcement bodies to ensure real, practical application across organisations.

EU Directive 2016/2102, transposed in Royal Decree 1112/2018, sets deadlines: new websites from 20 September 2019; all websites from 20 September 2020; and mobile apps from 23 June 2021. TOTHOMweb helps organisations meet these accessibility compliance deadlines.

January 4th is World Braille Day. Braille displays connect to devices to read on-screen content. Two visually impaired employees at TOTHOMweb use them daily. Abandoning Braille in favour of screen readers harms literacy skills and the professional competitiveness of blind people.

TOTHOMweb participated in ASEPAU's Accessibility Innovation Conference in Barcelona. David Sabaté conveyed that the company aims to 'demonstrate that accessibility is a viable business project and that a market for accessibility exists', going beyond mere legal compliance.

TOTHOMweb presented 'Web Accessibility: Necessary for a Smart City' at the Smart City Expo World Congress. The City of Barcelona participated with the motto 'Humanising technology'. TOTHOMweb is an advisor to the city's digital accessibility office, continuously working to improve its websites.

TOTHOMweb switched from Skype to Slack after Skype's accessibility for screen reader users worsened. Slack promptly fixed the reported issues, setting a good example of accessibility policy. Accessible internal professional tools promote the real workplace integration of all team members.

TOTHOMweb built the Zapatillas y Sneakers website applying accessibility criteria from the start, with no legal obligation to do so. The result is a modern, attractive website that proves accessibility and good design are compatible, serving as example for companies committed to digital inclusion.

Tourism websites are the first impression for people with special needs. The law requires public bodies and large companies to be accessible; Renfe, Vueling and Iberia have already been fined. The European Commission estimates over 10 million people with accessibility needs in Spain alone.

May 17th is Internet Day and the third Thursday of May is #GAAD. Created in 2011 by developer Joe Devon to raise awareness in the web community, TOTHOMweb actively participates and provides training, as most designers and developers are still unaware of web accessibility guidelines.
